Introduction (Part 2): Regret is an ocean—vast, deep, and unforgiving. This poem speaks of love lost to silence. It speaks of the guilt of words left unsaid, and the weight of memories that refuse to sink. A melancholic reflection on what could have been.
We once let silence bridge our souls,
Each quiet breath a lover’s sigh.
But now the hush between us grows,
An emptiness I can’t deny.
Your eyes once pulled me from the depths,
A harbor in my restless sea.
Now they reflect a distant storm,
A place where I no longer breathe.
I reach for words, but none survive,
Each one dissolving in the breeze.
The shore that cradled all we were
Now crumbles softly at our knees.
I see your shadow in the tide,
As waves erase its gleam;
I longed to dry your tears,
Yet guilt shunned our shared dream.
Each harsh accusation you hurled
Weighed upon my soul so deep,
Déjà vu stings like a wound—
A memory I cannot keep.
You were not alone when you felt the déjà vu,
For echoes haunt me just the same.
Each moment feels like yesterday,
Yet nothing now remains unchanged.
Your voice once calmed my wildest storms,
A song that lingered through the night.
But now its echo fades away,
A distant star that lost its light.
I hold my breath, afraid to ask
If love still flickers in your chest;
For even whispers sound too loud
When hearts no longer feel at rest.
The shore remains, the sea still sings,
Yet something in us slipped away.
We found the past, but lost ourselves—
Two strangers where two lovers lay.
How cruel that fate would call us back,
To realms where old and new imbue;
We sit where love once forged its track,
Now haunted by relentless déjà vu.
Still, here I stay beside the waves,
A silent echo calling you.
